PhotoRobot SmartCodes User Guide and Print-Ready Code Sheet

The following user guide describes how to use, download, and print PhotoRobot SmartCodes for integration within studio workflows. In PhotoRobot Controls, SmartCodes are like special trigger codes. They allow direct control of the software by scanning a code. Depending on the type of scanner in use, the SmartCode can be in barcode or QR code format. Customers then print the SmartCodes as stickers, or, alternatively, as labels to place near workstations or carry around the studio.
This eliminates unnecessary movement back and forth from a computer workstation, significantly improving productivity. At the same time, it is especially convenient when SmartCodes are extremely near to the object to photograph. In these cases, the operator can place products on the machine and instantly signal workflow sequences to begin by scanning the code. There is no time wasted in between. The operator simply scans a code when placing the object, and scans the next code to automatically trigger the next stage of the workflow.
PhotoRobot SmartCodes Available for Studio Use
The current lineup of downloadable and printable PhotoRobot SmartCodes covers four vital stages of the PhotoRobot-powered workflow. These special SmartCodes include:
- 8595676400053 – Start Sequence
- 8595676400060 – Ready for Shoot
- 8595676400077 – Start CubiScan Measurement
- 8595676400084 – Open Sort to Shelves

Start Sequence SmartCode
Scanning a Start Sequence SmartCode will instruct PhotoRobot Controls software to begin the robotized capture process.

Ready to Shoot SmartCode
The Ready to Shoot SmartCode tells the software that the product has been positioned for the robot, and that the capture sequence is ready to begin.

CubiScan SmartCode
The SmartCode for CubiScan prepares the CubiScan device to measure an object’s weight and dimensions. Scan the code to prep CubiScan, and simply scan the object afterwards to automatically record the item’s measurements in the software.

Sort to Shelves SmartCode
Using the Sort to Shelves SmartCode instructs PhotoRobot Controls software to begin sorting items to shelves after scanning. In this way, operators simply scan a shelf code, and then scan an item to quickly assign its photoshoot settings.

Note: For more information on sorting items to shelves, refer to the PhotoRobot Capturing Images User Guide.
Print-Ready PhotoRobot SmartCodes Cheat Sheets
Use the two buttons in this section to access downloadable, print-ready PhotoRobot SmartCodes cheat sheets. The SmartCodes Overview contains all codes with individual files in QR code and barcode formats. Then, as a bonus, there is the Print-Ready Smartcodes Sheet for commercial printing of PhotoRobot SmartCodes. The first page is for printing, while the second page contains cutting contours.
How to Generate Unique QR Codes and Barcodes
It is possible to generate QR codes or barcodes using various online tools. For higher quality, vector formats (SVG) are recommended. Although, standard bitmap formats such as PNG are usually sufficient.
- QR code generation is available for example via QRCode Monkey.
- Barcode generation is available for example via Barcode Generator.
Tips for Studio Integration of PhotoRobot SmartCodes
In practice, SmartCodes are usable as stickers, or printable on label printers (commonly available at workstations), or standard printers. The SmartCode are then placeable anywhere in the workspace as tags, or on keychains for carrying around, for example. Users have a lot of flexibility in how they use the codes.
